Worldline brings Express Transit for Apple Pay to France
By Gloria Methri
Worldline is bringing passengers in France, Express Transit for Apple Pay, to make travelling on TCL even simpler. From today, passengers in Lyon can just tap their iPhone or Apple Watch on the transit readers and go.
Express Transit is an Apple Pay feature that allows for tap-and-go payment at ticket barriers, eliminating the need for Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode.
Passengers don’t need to unlock their iPhone or double-click the side button to travel across the public transport network. In addition, with Power Reserve, passengers can tap to ride for up to five hours after the device runs out of battery.
Lyon, one of the largest Open Payment French networks, is the first to use Express Transit with Apple Pay and TCL’s transport network.
The “TCL Carte Bancaire” service that enables Open Payment on the Lyon transport network was launched earlier this year, based on Worldline’s Tap 2 Use solution. The Open Payment system is improvised, making Express Transit for Apple Pay available to enhance the passenger experience in Lyon.
Aurélien Barbier-Accary, Head of Mobility e-Transactional Services for Worldline France said, “Our open payment solution – Worldline Tap 2 Use – now goes one step further by allowing even more fluid and faster validation of tickets without having to unlock your iPhone, thus strengthening our position as a pioneer in open payments, in particular with SYTRAL Mobilités, the largest network in continental Europe. By offering both multi-validation and Express Mode for Apple Pay to several operators and all users, we put our payment and digital services’ expertise at the service of our clients to help them create the best-added value for their customers.”
