Coinbase Card now supports Apple Pay and Google Pay
By Pavithra R
California-based Coinbase, provider of a digital currency wallet and platform has announced that its Coinbase Card can now be used with Apple Pay and Google Pay to make it even easier to spend crypto at home and on the go.
The company is enabling customers to earn up to 4% back in crypto rewards on shopping when using Coinbase Card with Apple Pay or Google Pay. The firm is planning to invite select customers off the waitlist to begin earning crypto rewards starting this week.
Customers who are already on the Coinbase Card waitlist will receive an email invitation and can complete a quick application. Coinbase Card is a debit card so signing up will not impact credit score and the firm charges no application fees.
If a customer is not on the waitlist, he/she can join and once approved for the card, the user can begin spending with Apple Pay and Google Pay without needing to wait for the physical card. Even after receiving the physical card, users do not have to carry the card around, as Apple Pay and Google Pay use tokenization to keep card information safe and enable secure purchases.
Google Pay users can add their Coinbase Card from the Google Pay app while Apple Pay users can do the same from the Apple Wallet app or from within the Coinbase app. On the iPhone, Apple Pay is easy to set up: open the Wallet app, tap +, and follow the steps to add the card.
Within the Coinbase app, users will have the option to add the card to Apple Pay as soon as they are approved for the card. Users can also add their card to Apple Pay within settings: from card home, tap Manage then tap Add to Apple Wallet.
Founded in 2012, Coinbase’s mission is to create an open financial system for the world. It is a digital currency wallet and platform where merchants and consumers can transact new digital currencies like bitcoin, ethereum, and litecoin. The firm in the coming months plans to continue to build more ways for users to maximize crypto rewards and easily use crypto in everyday life.
