Airbnb teams up with Stripe to boost bank payments
By Delisha Fernandes
Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, announced its partnership with Airbnb to power bank payments for guests.
The partnership provides Airbnb guests with the option to pay with a linked bank account. Airbnb guests with a US bank account can use Stripe Financial Connections and Link to easily make payments and avoid reentering bank details for each booking. Once those details are saved, guests can use Link, Stripe’s native one-click checkout, to quickly make bank payments for all future bookings.
Paying by the bank is growing in popularity: Nearly two-thirds of businesses report pursuing bank debits to provide customers with more flexible ways to pay and grow sales. Adding bank payments through Stripe provides another popular payment option for Airbnb guests with a US bank account.
“We are excited to partner with Stripe to provide our guests with more options to pay for their travel, including paying by bank with Link,” said Dave Stephenson, chief financial officer at Airbnb.
Stripe features more than 100 optimisations that enhance every aspect of the checkout experience, including pre-built payment UIs, more than 40 payment methods, and Links. With Link, Airbnb guests can check out faster using bank details saved from previous purchases at any Link-enabled business.
“Anyone who’s made a booking on Airbnb knows how great the experience is. For guests who want to pay using their bank account, we are thrilled to partner with Airbnb to offer bank payments as an option just as fast and convenient as anything else,” said Mike Clayville, chief revenue officer at Stripe.
