Payments Acceptance, Digital Payments, China, New Zealand, Domestic Payments, Apple Pay, Consumer Payments, Fintech Solutions, New Zealand Fintech, Kiwibank has introduced Apple Pay, a safer, more secure, and private way to pay that helps customers make everyday transactions in a convenient and accessible way, all while using the power of the iPhone to protect every transaction.

Apple Pay is available to Kiwibank customers with an eligible Visa debit or credit card. To use, customers simply double-click and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment. Every Apple Pay purchase is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, as well as a one-time unique dynamic security code.

Fiona Ehn, Kiwibank General Manager Retail Products, shared, “We are really happy to be delivering Apple Pay to our customers. Our customers have been letting us know this is a feature that will make their lives easier, and we are honestly delighted to now be able to offer it. Kiwibank is Aotearoa’s largest owned bank, and looking at the strong demand for contactless payments, our customers will be able to use Apple Pay to make their lives easier, especially in time for the holiday shopping season.”

Customers can use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to make faster and more convenient purchases in apps or on the web in Safari without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. Apple Pay makes it easier to pay for everyday expenses. Apple Pay can also be used to make payments in apps on the Apple Watch.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When customers use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor Apple servers.

Apple Pay is easy to set up. On iPhone, open the Wallet app, tap +, and follow the steps to add Kiwibank’s credit or debit Visa cards. Once a customer adds a card to an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac, they can start using Apple Pay on that device. Customers will continue to receive all the rewards and benefits offered by Kiwibank’s Visa cards.
